Fredericksburg Community Orchestras will host a summer string and fiddle camp in Fredericksburg, TX open to students of all ages. Performance will be Thursday evening at Luckenbach! Our annual event is called “Bach at Luckenbach, TX.”

Sample Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday classes

BEGINNER VIOLIN CLASS MORNINGS ONLY
(This class is for students who have never played before.)
10:00 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Ages 10 to adult.
Students must have their own instrument.

AFTERNOON FIDDLE CAMP
1:00 p.m. Large Group Ensemble/Suzuki Ensemble
2:00 p.m. Music Theory & Games
3:00 p.m. Fiddle Class
4:00 Daily Play-out
4:30 p.m. (End Time)
Open to string students who are reading and can play the first 10 pieces in Suzuki repertoire OR equivalent.
We will teach several fiddle tunes and review Suzuki repertoire including the Bach Minuets.

ADULT AND INTERMEDIATE STUDENT FIDDLE AND IMPROVISATION CLASS
5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Improvisation Class
7:30 to 8:15 Orchestral Jam – we will be learning the Bach Brandenburg Concertos No. 3 and 5 Arr. By Isaac.
Open to adults and students in 7th grade and above who wish to learn to improvise and collaborate with other musicians in a jam style setting. We will also learn about playing intros to songs and have a primer on styles of fiddling. Several tunes will be suggested for fiddlers to learn. Students must be comfortable playing a variety of scales.

All students are able to participate in or audit any of the course offerings if desired.

GENERAL INFORMATION: The purpose of the camp is to provide each student an enriching summer experience and performance opportunity. The camp will feature a daily mini-private lesson in the form of a masterclass, daily small group ensemble, daily large group class, and other musical learning times. It is suggested young students be accompanied by an adult.

APPLICATION: Application and payment deadline is June 7, 2019. Please be advised that there are a limited number of spaces for each instrument, so please submit applications early. A Applications may be mailed to FCO, PO BOX 1132, Fredericksburg, TX 78624 or submitted online. Payment may also be submitted online through PayPal.

LOCATION: The camp will be hosted at the Ambleside School of Fredericksburg at 406 Post Oak Rd. Concert will be at Luckenbach, TX.

TUITION: Tuition for the workshop will be $150 per student. Registration is due by June 7, 2019. Full tuition must be paid at time of registration. Bach at Luckenbach, TX T-shirt is included for each student. A few scholarships are available based on need.

STUDENTS NEED TO BRING: Instruments, pencils, a good attitude to learn, and any required accessories needed. More advanced students who are reading music need to bring their own folding music stands.

ATTENDANCE: Please attend all the sessions you want! Afternoon and evening classes are open to all enrolled students. We encourage family members to observe classes. In case of illness, you must notify Camp Director, Theresa Britt, at (806) 549-2483 prior to the start of class that day. No refunds will be made for missed classes.

FINAL CONCERT: A final concert will be presented on Thursday, June 13, 2019 at Luckenbach, TX in the evening.

HOUSING & DINING: Local bed and breakfasts and a variety of other hotels will be available during the workshop. Families are expected to provide their own meals and snacks.
