String musicians from Fredericksburg, Texas and the surrounding communities will perform on a spring concert on May 18, 2013 at 2 p.m. at the Evangelical Free Church in Fredericksburg, TX. (107 E. Lower Crabapple Rd.)
The program includes Suzuki ensembles of violins, violas and cellos performing a variety of classical and folk music. The Fredericksburg Community Orchestras general ensemble will also perform pieces arranged for string orchestra including: The Espana Waltz by Emil Waldteufel, Over the Rainbow by Arlen and Harburg, and Sea Songs by Ralph Vaughan Williams. Violinist and Tivy High School student Mary Elizabeth McQueen will perform the DeBeriot Concerto No. 9 for violin and orchestra. An ensemble of local students from Ambleside and Heritage Schools will perform an arrangement Pachelbel’s Canon in D.
Performers ages 5 to 75 will perform. All orchestras and ensembles are under the direction of Theresa Britt.
