The Fredericksburg Community Orchestras will host a chamber music event with harpsichord accompaniment Saturday, November 2, 2019 at 3 p.m. at the Gillespie County Historical Society at 312 W. San Antonio St. in Fredericksburg, Texas. The concert will feature performers of different ages on string instruments accompanied by Susan Matteson and Theresa Britt on harpsichord. Works by Bach, Handel, Vivaldi and many more will be performed. The harpsichord is an instrument that was popular in the times of Bach, Handel and Vivaldi. It is a keyboard instrument with a plucking mechanism. The instrument was typical of the music of the baroque era as the piano was not invented until much later.
We are very excited to be able to offer this concert free of charge to our community in order to promote string education in Fredericksburg and the surrounding communities.
